As the number one ranked team in all of college lacrosse, the Denver Pioneers men’s lacrosse team traveled to Columbus, Ohio for a showdown with the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes. The at the time 19th ranked Buckeyes were looking for their second consecutive win over a top ten team and their first win since 2015 over team ranked in the top three. Denver was looking for back to back wins after a thrilling 11-10 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. From the start, the game was firmly in control of the Buckeyes. Led by seven point from freshman Tre Leclair and a ten-goal run spanning nearly forty minutes, the Buckeyes cruised to a decisive 16-7 win over the Pioneers. Tom Carey anchored down the cage for Ohio State making eleven saves while fellow seniors Eric Fannell and Johnny Pearson each recorded hat tricks.
